Richard Lloyd Surface

March 21, 1934 - March 30, 2015

Richard Lloyd Surface was born March 21, 1934 in Redmond, Oregon to Ray & Alice Surface and went home peacefully on March 30, 2015 surrounded by his family. He graduated from Redmond Union High School in Redmond, Ore. and enlisted into the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Houghton, Norfolk, England. He married Barbara Winter on June 23, 1960, in Norfolk, England. The couple had 5 children before returning to his parents place in Twisp,WA, then settled in Wenatchee, WA and welcomed another child. In 1973, Richard and Barbara divorced; he then moved his family back to the Methow Valley. He later married Wendy Shaw, in Twisp, WA, on August 29, 1981 where he became a father to 3 step-children.

Richard is preceded in death by his mother Alice Surface, father Ray Surface, wife Wendy Surface and great-granddaughter Kerris McKenzie Cotner.

He is survived by two sisters, Lyda Gonzales (Lou), Corrine Turcott (Gary); two brothers, George Surface and Larry Surface (Janie); four daughters, Donna Cotner (Dave), Annez Perez (George), Della Madison, Michellica Salazar; three sons, Dewayne Surface (Martha), Delbert Surface, Freddo Surface (Andrea); three step-children Roy Wilson, Irene Surface, Amber Wilson; 22 grandchildren and as well as several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews, all of whom were important part of his life.

A Celebration of Life for Richard will be held at a later date for family and friends.
