Mattawa man pleads not guilty to threatening in-laws
EPHRATA - A Mattawa man is pleading not guilty to allegations he told his mother and father-in-law he was going to shoot them.
Oscar Bravo, 21, of Mattawa, was charged with two counts of harassment and third-degree malicious mischief in Grant County Superior Court on March 23.
The incident occurred on March 13 when the Grant County Sheriff's Office received reports of an argument at a residence in the 21600 block of Road 24.1 near Mattawa. A deputy and a Mattawa Police officer answered the call and made the arrest.
According to police reports, Bravo's wife told police her husband was drinking alcohol and getting loud in her parents' house. The woman said her parents asked Bravo to calm down and leave, but he became more aggressive.
At some point, Bravo allegedly attempted to take his 11-month-old child, who was asleep in a bedroom, from the house. According to police, when Bravo tried to enter the room, his wife's sister reportedly locked the door so he could not take the child because he had been drinking.
When Bravo found the door was locked, he reportedly forced the door open with his shoulder, police reported. Upon entering the room he tried to take the baby, but his in-laws forcefully took him out of the bedroom.
Bravo's father-in-law reportedly took him to the floor and used pressure on his throat to control him and keep him from hurting anyone. Police said Bravo convinced his father-in-law to let him go, and he allegedly told them he was going to go get a gun and return to kill them.
Bravo left the residence but was later arrested at his parents' house.
"I didn't do anything, but I know I am going to jail," Bravo allegedly told police.
