WARDEN - Warden girls soccer (2-3-1) dropped its third straight match Thursday against Connell, 3-1.

"We're unfortunately just making little mistakes at crucial times and they're really haunting us right now," head coach Don Edson said.

Brenna Whitney scored the lone goal for the Cougars and the two teams were tied at half, 1-1.

Connell has able to take a 2-1 lead in the second half and stretched the lead to 3-1 in the waning moments of the match when Warden was busy pushing its players forward trying to tie the match.

Edson isn't as concerned about the losing streak as he is about the rash of injuries his team has sustained.

"I'm more concerned right now 'cause we're going through a run of injuries," he said. "I've lost I think three players, four players in the last three games. I love one in practice last night so that's truthfully one of the things that's starting to get to me now."

Warden will play one of its only true league games Saturday against Mabton. The Cougars and the Vikings are the only teams in the Central Washington 2B South Division with girls soccer programs.
