ELLENSBURG - The Washington State Patrol is seeking witnesses of the fatal crash that took the life of an Ephrata woman and injured a Grant County deputy on Saturday.

The state patrol's Major Accident Investigation Team has taken the lead in the investigation, at the request of the sheriff's office, according to WSP Trooper Darren Wright.

The crash occurred about 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Dodson Road and Road 5 NW.

The deputy, Tyson Voss, 39, of Moses Lake, was traveling south on Dodson Road in a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado pickup when he collided with McKenna Fuglie, 22, of Ephrata, who was traveling east on Road 5 NW in a Jeep.

Fuglie suffered fatal injuries. Voss received non-life threatening injuries.

The Major Accident Investigation Team is a specialty unit in the patrol that responds to collisions across Washington. The unit is staffed with collision reconstruction detectives and will investigate the crash using human, vehicle and environment models to determine the casual factors, Wright said.

Detectives are seeking witnesses of the actual accident, or witnesses of events leading up to the accident.

If you have any information, please contact Detective Sgt. Jerry Cooper at 360-805-1192 or Detective Ed Collins at 360-805-1195.
