91-year-old Royal woman involved in 2-car crash
A two-car crash Saturday on highway 26 at Road E Southwest left one car totaled and another car damaged.
ROYAL CITY - A member of the Royal City community, with an Othello address, was involved Friday in a two-car collision near the Hiawatha Industrial Park on Highway 26.
Nellie Sheriff, 91, of Othello was attempting to cross the highway at E Road SW in a 2006 Honda CRY, the Washington State Patrol reported. Her car was struck by a 2013 Honda Accord driven by Gary Beck, 61, of Orofino Idaho.
Drugs and alcohol were not involved, the State Patrol said. All occupants were wearing their seat belts.
Sheriff did not suffer any noticeable injuries. But she was transported to a hospital as a precaution.
Her car, which was totaled, was impounded by Davis Towing. Beck's Honda sustained reportable damage, and it was impounded by Davis Towing.
Injured in the accident was Fukuko M. Beck, 68 of Orofino. She was a passenger in the Beck vehicle. She was transported to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake.
According to the State patrol, Sheriff was northbound on Road E SW. She failed to yield right of way to the westbound Beck vehicle on Highway 26.
Sheriff's vehicle was struck on the rear passenger side in the westbound lane. Both vehicles came to rest in the northwest comer of the intersection.
