A special thank you

| September 19, 2014 6:00 AM

On behalf of the trustees, students, and employees of Big Bend Community College (BBCC), a special thank you to members of the LDS Church in Moses Lake for their generous contributions of labor and equipment to transform the appearance of the BBCC campus. September 10 and 13 saw hundreds of church members remove diseased trees, unwanted shrubs and debris, and install new trees, shrubs, and rock according to a landscaping plan that better suits our campus and climate.

To complete so much work in a few hours took exceptional planning and the contributions of hundreds of church youth and adults. Special thanks to Moses Lake Stake High Councilor Brandon Nelson and Public Affairs Director Marlo Merrell, to BBCC Vice President Gail Hamburg, Randy Fish and the BBCC Maintenance and Operations staff for planning and coordinating the complex two-day project, and to Nancy Richardson from Emerald Desert Nursery for designing the landscape plan.

All of us at the college are grateful for this generous community support. Community engagement and investment in BBCC validates that we deserve to include "Community" in our college name. Thank you!
