Moses Lake volleyball struggles against Ike

YAKIMA - Moses Lake volleyball (0-3) struggled in its Columbia Basin Big 9 opener against Eisenhower.

The Chiefs lost in three games 17-25, 20-25, 11-25.

"We had some really bright moments and then we had some moments where we just kind of checked out mentally," head coach Michael DeHoog said. "The good thing is in a couple of the sets we were kind of down and out, but we finished fighting."

Moses Lake did have a brief lead in the first game before the Cadets came roaring back.

"We had a lead for the first half and we're playing strong," DeHoog said. "We followed our game plan of trying to get Eisenhower out of system and kind of get them scrambling then we kind of went away from that."

Greta Hammer led the offensive attack for the Chiefs with 4 kills.

Setter Kylee McKay recorded 7 assists and 2 aces.

Marissa Strickland and Rylee Cranston added 2 blocks each while Ashley Sampson notched a team-high 7 digs.

The Cadets stymied the Chief offense and forced Moses Lake to a negative hit percentage.

Moses Lake will look for its first win Thursday when the team hosts Sunnyside at 7 p.m.
