Patton Boulevard school zone changes

MOSES LAKE - The Grant County Sheriff's Office wants the public to be aware of school zone changes along Patton Boulevard.

The school zone on Patton Boulevard at Randolph Road in front of Endeavor Middle School, formerly Columbia Basin Secondary School, experienced an increase in foot traffic, according to information provided by the sheriff's office.

More children are walking to and from school along Patton Boulevard from the Larson Housing community.

For children's safety, the school zone was studied and it was determined the zone needed to be changed.

Twenty miles per hour school zone signs were added 300 feet from Patton Boulevard on Randolph Road. Both signs say "when children are present." When children are seen walking on the sidewalks and in the crosswalks along Patton Boulevard, the school zone speed limit will be enforced.

The 20 mph flashing light sign was moved further south on Patton Boulevard, 300 feet south of Craig Street. When the lights are flashing, the speed limit will be enforced.

The Moses Lake School District, Grant County Public Works, Columbia Basin Traffic Safety Task Force, Safekids Grant County and the Grant County Sheriff's Office want to remind drivers to slow down, watch for children and allow more time for your trip when traveling through the area.
