Wounded Warrior Horseman's clinic Saturday

MOSES LAKE - Combat veterans and their family members or caretakers have a chance to take a free day-long course on horse riding and care.

The Wounded Warriors Horseman's Clinic will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at BNB Quarter Horse Ranch in Moses Lake. The Rotary Club of Moses Lake will provide a free lunch and cookout after the event.

Participants will get lessons on working with horses on the ground and in the saddle, organizers said.

Novice horsemen, experienced cowboys and everyone in between are encouraged to reserve a spot for the course.

Horse expert Cecil Newkirk, who has more than 50 years of experience training and ridding horses, will be the lead instructor. A retired recreational therapist will be on site to help with any mobility issues of participants.

Organizers ask participants to let them know ahead of time about any physical disabilities. Participants should wear comfortable clothes, jeans and bring a helmet or let organizers know ahead of time they need a helmet.
