MOSES LAKE - Drs. Chris Parkinson and Dave Butler are bringing their orthodontic expertise to Moses Lake.

The pair, who run Parkinson + Butler Orthodontics in Richland, opened up a second office earlier this month. Their Moses Lake office is located on South Clover Drive, near the Moses Lake High School.

Parkinson said they wanted to open an office in this area to better serve some of their existing patients.

"We're based in Tri-Cities, but a fair number of our patients come to us from the Moses Lake, Othello and Warden areas so we wanted to do a second location so they don't need to travel to the Tri-Cities to see us," he said.

Parkinson said they will split their time between the two offices.

"We'll go to Moses Lake as often as necessary and as the practice out there builds and there's more of a need then we'll go out there more often," he said.

Parkinson + Butler was formed about a year and a half ago, when Butler moved from Texas to Washington to join Parkinson Orthodontics. Butler said he wanted to move back to the Northwest and sent a letter to Parkinson to see if he knew of anyone who had an opportunity for him.

"We ended up communicating over several months and we came up with the idea to create a partnership and work together," he said.

Parkinson had been practicing in Tri-Cities for 12 years before he and Butler decided to partner.

Butler said their partnership works because they both share a passion of wanting to help people grow their self confidence through a healthy smile.

"While in dental school I quickly fell in love with orthodontics, specifically being able to see that change your able to make for kids and adults," he said. "It's fun to watch someone come in who's introverted and reserved that so desperately wants to express emotions but has been holding it back because they don't want to smile suddenly change - it's fun to experience that on a daily basis."

Parkinson said he enjoys having a hand in improving patients' self esteem.

"They just feel better about themselves and about their improved smile and overall health of their teeth," he said.

Butler said they can treat both kids and adults at their office. They have patients of all ages, including some in their 80s, he said.

And new patients are always welcome at their new office, said Butler. Patients can set up a complimentary exam, where they will determine what their orthodontic needs are and come up with a treatment plan and go over costs of treatment.

"Being flexible with financing treatment is something we pride ourselves on," he said. "We're a lot more flexible than what you would typically see."

Parkinson said its important to them to make orthodontic care as affordable as possible.

"We just try to provide quality care and remove as many barriers as possible," he said. "People have a misconception that orthodontics is really expensive and then they don't pursue it."

He said orthodontic care should be seen as an investment into one's smiles and overall dental health.
