Quincy police officer injured in accident

QUINCY - A Quincy police officer was involved in an early morning accident on Friday.

Officer Albert Gonzalez, 25, of Quincy, suffered neck and shoulder injuries and was taken to Quincy Valley Medical Center after a two-car accident, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Gonzalez was traveling along state Route 28 in a 2009 Dodge Charger patrol car when he attempted a U-turn in front of Dennis McNulty, 63, of East Wenatchee, who was driving a 2006 Freightliner semi truck with a van trailer.

McNulty struck Gonzalez on the driver's side of his vehicle. McNulty was not injured in the accident, but his semi did sustain reportable damage. The patrol car was totaled in the accident.

The accident was caused by Gonzalez failing to yield, according to the State Patrol.
