MATTAWA - The latest Mattawa City Council meeting, on Aug. 21, was brief and uneventful.

The most meaningful moment was when Police Chief John Turley said he wasn't very happy with the Grant County Prosecutor's office.

In house keeping matters, Turley said the department continues to have some issues with Grant PUD on getting surveillance cameras installed.

Turley said the department will request laptop computers to place in the police cars in the 2014 budget.

Public Works Director Gary Crowder announced that the street sweeper purchased recently should be here this week. He added that Public Works is still working on getting the sidewalks fixed.

In one of the three votes taken, the council approved an event permit for a circus in Hund Memorial Park this weekend, August 29, 30, 31.

The council passed a consent agenda that included Approval of Claims, Prepaid Claims and Payroll Vouchers audited and certified by the City Clerk. Those expense reimbursement claims have been recorded on a listing which has been made available to the Council for approval and is retained for public inspection at city hall.

As of August 21, the Council approved for payment 2014 payroll EFT and payroll check #31175 in the amount of $11,600.00 and 2014 claims EFT and claims checks #13845 to #13881 in the amount of $130,672.87. Check #13845 was voided.

There was an executive session to deal with labor negotiations. No decisions were made. The council meeting was adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
