Didier is the right choice

The Fourth Congressional District seat election has presented an interesting twist, the top two vote-getters in the primary have advanced to the general election regardless of party. Clint Didier and Dan Newhouse, both Republicans, are engaged in a fierce campaign that has pitted two candidates in an unprecedented same party general election race. This is important in that whoever is elected to replace Doc Hastings is likely to remain in office for a long period of time. Hastings has won the last 10 elections and would have certainly won again.

After listening to Didier and Newhouse speak multiple times, talking with both one-on-one and reading the information on their websites, I have been impressed most by Didier. He is a grass roots conservative and has the integrity needed to represent us well in Washington D.C.

Didier has little experience in holding public office, but is a force to be reckoned with. His tough and gritty approach is reassuring in a time of weak and timid politicians. He has pledged to do what he can to oust John Boehner as Speaker of the House. He is a passionate defender of the constitution and has signed a pledge in where he commits to vote for all bills that repeal all or part of Obamacare. He is adamant about cutting spending and reducing the federal debt.

An issue that I feel is very important is energy independence and further development of our rich energy resources on public land. Clint agrees with this and has entered his energy policy on his website, Newhouse has not.

Didier has been endorsed by Sarah Palin, Rick Satorum, Mark Levine and Ron Paul, among other strong conservatives. I am confident that he will maintain his conservative position on all the issues and will not be swayed by the GOP establishment.

I believe that Newhouse should probably be considered a moderate Republican. He was appointed by Christine Gregoire to be a member of her liberal administration, his political adviser participated in fund raising for Patty Murray, he was endorsed by the GOP establishment, including moderates such as Slade Gorton, Dino Rossi and Rob McKenna. I fear he will become another one of John Boehner's yes men.
