I-594 hinders honest people

| October 24, 2014 6:00 AM

To counter the deceitful ads on TV, you cannot buy a firearm over the Internet without going through a licensed firearms dealer, where you have to fill out federal forms and submit to a national background check.

Only law abiding citizens can pass this check. Also, gun shows are mostly firearms dealers. You have to fill out federal forms and submit to a national background check. Only law abiding citizens can pass this check. Also, gun shows are mostly firearms dealers. You have to fill out federal forms and again pass a national background check. Gun shows always have a member of law enforcement at the door. Criminals do not come to gun shows. I-594 is extremely misleading and is setting up Washington state as a precedent for every citizen to have to submit to a state background check and register your firearms, which is illegal on federal level.

Washington state will have to add many people to carry out this process (another bureaucracy). Affecting only honest citizens again. Criminals do not access firearms through legal channels. Vote no on I-594.
