Concern for public safety

| October 24, 2014 6:00 AM

I challenge both Dano and Lee to submit Letters to the Editor explaining whether a county employee convicted of violating traffic laws, causing injury, death, or property damage while performing his or her duties, would put the county liable for the damages.

Traffic laws exist to protect not only a given driver, but the public in general. Speeders are a danger to themselves, and other people! What percentage of traffic crashes are caused by illegal driving? The October 14th Columbia Basin Herald listed eight times where Garth Dano has paid speeding fines, and twice for cell phone usage. Cell phone usage while driving has been shown equivalent in danger to DUI! What percentage of actual violations of traffic laws result in fines being paid?

This driving record over a nine year period speaks to a lack of respect, not only for the law, but for public safety! Does Dano consider himself to be above the law? Should these violations give insight as to whether a person is fit for public office, especially County Prosecutor?

I have great concern regarding the lack of responsibility, and concern for public safety, demonstrated by anyone who ignores traffic laws and safety! Would such be indicative of a person's job performance?
