WARDEN - Behind a pair of goals each from Jennifer Mendoza and Brenna Whitney, Warden sent off its two seniors with a win in their last home match.

Warden (2-0, 8-5-1) led Wahluke 2-1 at halftime and would go on to win 4-1.

"That was one of their only real opportunity in the first half," head coach Don Edson said. "So it was a real good first half for us."

The two seniors celebrating their last match on the Warden High School pitch were Savanna Edson and Rebekah Richins. Both players have been four-year starters for the Cougars.

"They're having pretty good seasons this year, real consistent," Edson said. "It's only the two of them so it looks good for the future for returners because there will be a bunch of them."

Mendoza pounded in two first half goals to give Warden the lead and Whitney pushed the match out of reach with two second half goals of her own.

Warden has locked down the No. 1 seed out of the Central Washington 2B South division and will be matched up with the No. 4 seed out of the North division, which at this point is Brewster.

The Cougars close the regular season with two road matches against Granger and Royal.

"One of the things we've been talking about a lot is, one, we're really trying to work on our consistency," Edson said. "Everybody being consistent at your job, doing what you're supposed to do. All the little things that will make big differences when we get into the postseason."
