Gwyn Janell Thomas

Gwyn Janell Thomas, 88, a resident of Moses Lake since 1961, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2014 at Columbia Crest Care Center.

Janell was born August 19, 1926 in Union, Oregon to Vernon Cockrell and Ruth Minnie Burford Cockrell.

She married Albert Claywell Thomas on July 31, 1961 and moved to Moses Lake where Albert was farming alfalfa seed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Al, a brother Kay V Cockrell, and a sister Carmen Keeney. She is survived by her daughter Kate (Greg) McCormick and her grandson Kent Sasaki of Portland, Oregon.

Being on time was very important to Janell and she was never late to anything. She loved her grandson Kent and he spent many summers visiting her in Moses Lake. She was very opinionated and passionate about politics and was very good at crossword puzzles. Janell loved earrings, brightly colored clothing and anything that looked like or had butterflies painted on it. She enjoyed going to lunch at the China Buffet with her good friend Arlene. Janell was well known for her beautiful penmanship and she filled out church certificates for many years. She also loved doing genealogy and learning about her ancestors.

Graveside services will be held Friday, October 24, 2014 at Pioneer Memorial Gardens at 2:00 p.m. with Bishop Neal Manly officiating. Please sign the online guestbook or leave a note for the family at www.kayserschapel.com. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory.
