Property value change notices mailed out

EPHRATA - The Grant County Assessor has mailed Change of Value notices for assessment year 2014, for taxes payable in 2015.

According to the assessor, 29,839 Real Property Change of Value notices and 4,582 Personal Property Change of Value notices were placed in the mail. Only those properties that actually changed in value are scheduled to receive a Change of Value notice.

Even though you may not have received a Change of Value notice and your value did not change, all property owners can appeal their 2014 value within a defined 30-day appeal period, Assessor Laure Grammer said.

The Change of Value notice will show the value determined to reflect 100 percent of the true and fair market value using standardized methods for all property within the State of Washington as prescribed by law.

The Change of Value notification begins a 30-day appeal period, whether your value actually changed or not. If you disagree with the True and Fair Market Value, Current Use Value or Senior Frozen Value, you may appeal it to the Board of Equalization.

Petition forms are available from the Clerk of the Board of Equalization, at (509) 754-2011 ext. 331. The appeal period will run from the date of the Change of Value notice mailing, September 17, through October 17 at 5 p.m.

Your appeal must be filed within this 30 day appeal period or July 1, 2014, whichever is latest. If you have any questions regarding the appeal process you may contact the Clerk of the Board of Equalization.
