Reader concerned about gun control bills

| October 17, 2014 6:00 AM

So called "gun control" bills are not intended to contain and control criminals. They are not intended to protect honest people. They are not intended to reduce violence, murder, rape, thefts, home invasions nor any other crimes committed by people using a gun for that purpose. Gun control laws are intended solely to reduce the number of guns and gun owners in this country.

All gun control bills are put forth with promises that this one action will finally reduce "gun violence." Each new bill is put forth hoping you will assume that criminals will obey this one. Even though criminals have ignored the approximately 22,000 gun bills in existence throughout this country right now, they will obey this one. Therefore, gun control bills actually help criminals by making their chosen work environment safer for them.

Just something to think about when deciding how to vote on I-594 next month. The bill that makes it a misdemeanor to hand your gun to somebody and a felony to take it back when done. The bill that makes that background check cost a fee and imposes a l0 day wait before you can hand it over. Then another fee and l0 day wait before you can take it back. The bill that says your significant other can shoot your gun at a registered range without breaking the law, but that gun can then never again leave that range. The bill that imposes new tax and increase the gun registry.
