Dani Bolyard communicates well

| October 17, 2014 6:00 AM

We have two good Republican candidates for the open 13th LD seat, both former Grant County Republican chairman, both dedicated to Republican values, both with business and agriculture experience. I will be voting for Dani Bolyard.

Dani has demonstrated several key characteristics I value in a representative. First, she listens and she's been listening in Lincoln County. When Lincoln County was added to the 13th District during her term as Grant County chairman, she was quick to welcome us onto the team.

Second, she communicates clearly. I may not agree 100 percent with every position she has taken or will take, but she is articulate and forthright in stating what she believes and why.

Third, her education in architecture and experience in journalism tell me she knows how to question, to see whole systems and connect the dots between actions taken by the Legislature or agencies and unintended consequences.

Fourth, Dani demonstrated both high integrity and hard work as Co-Chair of the Credentials Committee at the 2012 Washington State Republican Convention, on which I also served. The work is essential yet behind the scenes, requires building trust and the ability to convince others to put aside differences and focus on getting the job done.

There's my pick, now you do your own research and ask your own questions. We also have three initiatives in play this year and I recommend voting no on all of them - but that's a story for another letter.
