352 rushing yards in Warrior loss

MATTAWA - The Wahluke High School football team knows how to move the ball...between the 20-yard lines. Getting into the end zone is another matter.

The Warriors average more than 200 yards a game rushing and produced 352 on the ground at Chelan Friday night. But Chelan won the contest, 27-8.

"Once again, it is a process of putting together four quarters of football," coach Mike Forestiere said. "We were inside the red zone four times and came away with nothing. And Chelan took advantage of our inability to tackle even though we would hit their running back in the backfield."

The Warriors will face River View this Friday.

"It does not get any easier," Forestiere said.

On a positive note, hard-charging running back Randy Forestiere shot past the 1,000 yard mark with 225 yards on 28 carries. He has 1,005 yards.

Daniel Corrales had ten carries for 60 yards, Jason Cruz had nine carries for 31 yards, Matt Yorgesen rushed for one yard and the team's lone touchdown.

Jose Alejo had seven carries for 32 yards, Alex Chiprez had two carries for six yards, and Collin Ahman had one carry for two yards. There were no passing yards.

"Just got to keep working the fundamentals," coach Forestiere said.
