Bratfest event coming soon
Ginkgo Forest Winery's anniversary dinner this summer encouraged Mike and Lois Thiede to organize a bratfest at the winery.
MATTAWA - If you've never been to a bratfest, you'll have a chance to attend one on Oct. 25 at the first annual Ginkgo Forest Wines Bratfest.
"There won't be beer, but there will be plenty of wine," Gingko Forest owner Lois Thiede.
Thiede said the Bratfest was inspired by August's anniversary dinner and dance. The 55 or so participants "had a lot of fun," Thiede said.
The $15 per person meal, served from 5-10 p.m., will include brats, sausages, chicken, sauerkraut and German potato salad, served hot. The cost will also cover the first glass of wine and a commemorative logo glass.

The chef will be Junior Cruz, whose wife Jaime works for the winery. His assistant will be Wes Bartlett of Food Services of America. Both are experienced brat specialists.
"Half of the brats will be marinated in beer and half in Gingko Forest's 2011 Rosé," Cruz said.
In addition to food and drink, guests will be treated to dancing, with DJ Dale Roth providing the music.
For those who really want to have fun, there will be a grape stomp.
