MOSES LAKE - Police were able to catch a man who was a suspect in a vehicle theft on Sunday.

Police received a report from a man who claimed that his vehicle was stolen.

Later in the day, an officer reportedly spotted a vehicle, which matched the description of the stolen car, heading north on state Route 17 from Wheeler Road, according to information provided by the Moses Lake Police Department.

The stolen vehicle was being driven by Daniel Charpentier, 28, of Moses Lake.

Police attempted to pull Charpentier over near East Broadway Avenue and Third Avenue.

As police attempted to pull him over, Charpentier turned north and attempted to elude officers behind some businesses between East Broadway Avenue and the lake.

Officers contained the area Charpentier was believed to have been located. He was later spotted in the fenced yard of a business on East Broadway Avenue.

Charpentier did not obey commands from the officers. He was later arrested.

Officers were able to match shoe prints in the area of the stolen vehicle to the shoes Charpentier was wearing, according to police reports.

Officers also discovered items in the vehicle which did not belong to the vehicle's owner. The items were collected for evidence.

The man received his vehicle back.

Charpentier was arrested and booked into the Grant County Jail for theft of a motor vehicle, second-degree burglary, resisting arrest and first-degree driving with a suspended/revoked license.
