ECBID director positions open

OTHELLO - The filing period for two East Columbia Basin Irrigation District director positions is now open.

Candidates interested in running for director of the district's Division 1 or Division 3 have until 5 p.m. on Nov. 3 to turn in a Candidacy Petition, signed by at least 10 qualified voters in that district. Elections take place Dec. 9.

To serve as director, an individual must be a qualified voter within the division he or she represents. To qualify as a voter, an individual must own land included within the district and vote in the division in which he or she resides or is nearest to his or her home, according to an ECBID statement.

Division 1 includes the part of the East District located in Grant County north of Wheeler Road. This term will be for three years beginning in January 2015.

Donald Osborne is the incumbent director for Division 1.

Division 3 is all of the East District located in Lincoln County and the part of the East District located in Adams County north of Providence Road. The term is also for three years beginning in January 2015.

Bernard Erickson is the incumbent director for Division 3.
