Moses Lake takes eighth place at Mukilteo Invitational

MUKILTEO - Moses Lake took eighth place at the Mukilteo Invitational held at Kamiak High School recently.

Ephrata, who has a co-op team that travels with Moses Lake, finished 13th at the meet.

Richland took first place, followed by Kamiak in second and Bellevue in third.

The relay team of Jordan Richeson, Megan Washburn, Anna Fair and Jalen Garza finished 10th in the 200 medley relay. Ephrata's team of Catherine Scelleck, Alice Turnbull, Shelby Koch and Brook Stutzman took 14th.

Richeson, Bailey Hammond, Shyanne Speed and Anna Fair combined to take ninth place in the 400 freestyle relay.

Individually, Fair took fifth place in the 100 fly with a time of 1 minute, 4.01 seconds. It was the highest finish for Moses Lake at the invitational.

Fair also cracked the top 10 in the 200 individual medley, finished 10th with a time of 2 minutes, 30.78 seconds.

Richeson finished the 100 backstroke in 1 minute, 7.62 seconds, good for a seventh place finish.

Speed took 10th in the 50 freestyle, finishing in 27.51 seconds.

Fair, Garza, Richeson, Hammond, Speed, Fair, Washburn and Janice Pryor all qualified for districts in at least one event.

Ephrata's Scelleck, Stutzman, Turnbull and Koch also qualified for 2A districts in in at least one event.

Moses Lake returns to its Columbia Basin Big Nine schedule today at Eisenhower. The Chiefs will get a chance to finally use their new pool in competition Thursday against the Cadets.
