George Sumner Metcalf

George Sumner Metcalf, age 93, passed away September 4, 2014.

He was born 4/1/21 in Tacoma, WA and married Hazel Craig in 1943. After serving in the Navy, George moved his family to Pasco, WA and farmed in Block 16 for 25 years. His wife passed away in 1976. George later married Olive Leer and they have celebrated the last 38 years together. Their travels included the Japan, China, Demark, Sweden, Alaska, Hawaii and Mexico. They moved to Packwood and later Moses Lake where George sold real estate until his 70th birthday. George was a member of the Moses Lake Assembly of God church for 27 years as a deacon, board member and loved his church family. He dearly loved his Lord, his wife Olive, their family, his life and never met a stranger. In recent years, the loving care by grandson Bob and Holly Kenner and church family allowed them to stay in their home. With failing health, George and Olive moved to Kennewick, WA in October 2013 to Hawthorne Retirement Court.

George is survived by his loving wife Olive, his daughters Susan (Ed), Lynne (Steve), Deborah (Randy) and Billie, his stepdaughters Nancy (Jon) and Joan (Ron). He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, 2 brothers, sister and grand daughter.

A gathering of family and friends will be held October 11, 2014 2 PM at the Moses Lake Assembly of God. Memorials may be made to the Wee Care Program or Memorial Fund at the church.
