City hall remodel plans slow down

MATTAWA - The plan to remodel the Mattawa City Hall to create more office space for city and police staff has been slowed.

Mayor Scott Hyndman told the city council on Sept. 18 that he and Kevin Bise believe the only bid, received from Navarette Construction, was too high, and they will ask for new bids.

It was also stated the heating proposal was too expensive. Maybe there would be another route the city could take on heating and air conditioning.

According to City Clerk Robin Newcomb, a motion is needed to approve the bids or ask for another round of bids. No motion was made.

In other business, the council passed a resolution making a city-owned lot at 623 Second St. surplus property. That makes it available for sale. The tax appraisal is $8,000.

The council approved claims, prepaid claims and payroll vouchers audited and certified by the City Clerk, and those expense reimbursement claims have been recorded on a listing which has been made available to the council and is retained for public inspection at city hall.

As of September 18, the vouncil approved for payment 2014 payroll EFT and payroll checks #31183-31184 in the amount of $11,400.00 and 2014 claims EFT and claims checks #13890 - 13935 in the amount of $95,510.50.
