Tommie C. Chapman

Tommie C. Chapman was born February 16, 1934 in Jackson, Mississippi. His mother Ruby Mae Bodkins and Ceils Mack Chapman met and married and in that union had two sons Tommie C. Chapman and Billy Ray Chapman and daughter Lorraine.

At the age of 12 Tommie's mother went home to be with the Lord. Tommie's father remarried again to Elizabeth Chapman. Tommie moved from Mississippi to Texas before settling in Seattle, Washington in 1966, where he met and married Mable Lee Scott in 1968, to this union Rockelle was born in 1970. Even though Tommie and Mable were no longer married, they remained the very best of friends.

Tommie worked as a welder at Todd Shipyard in Seattle. He also worked at Paccar in Renton, Washington and Ball Construction as a welder and rigger. He helped to build Interstate 90 through Snoqualmie mountain pass. In 1973, he retired from construction. Tommie enjoyed repairing automobiles when he could, but his great passion was for the CB radio; in which he won several awards such as trophies and belts in the many shoot-out battles. His CB handle was "White Ghost".

In Tommie's younger years, he enjoyed riding motorcycles specially his Harley-Davidson. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family enjoying BBQ's and celebrating the holidays with them and friends. He loved to watch black and white western movies and listening to the old time blues - names such as BB King, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and Al Green. Tommie had a great passion for fishing, hunting, traveling, and he loved life. Tommie moved to Moses Lake, Washington in the year 2000 where he continued fishing and talking on his CB radio.

Tommie is preceded in death by his father, both mothers, brother Billy Ray Chapman, sister Lorraine Payton (Harold), brothers Charles Bell (Barbara) and Claude Bell (Ruth). Tommie leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Rockelle and grandson Kilrayel. His other children were Claudine, Brenda, and Dwayne. He had five grandchildren Siobhan, Joseph, Breann and Olivia; two great-grandchildren Gabriella and Leon all of Seattle, Washington; two brothers Clarence Chapman (Edna) and Clyde R. Chapman (Rene) of Terry, Mississippi. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Viewing will be held from 1 - 6 p.m., Friday, October 3rd in Carver Family Funeral Home, 1217 E. Wheeler Rd., Moses Lake, Wash. and from 10 - 10:45 a.m., Saturday, October 4th, 2014 in New Bride Missionary Baptist Church, 4125 Fairview Pl. NE, Moses Lake, WA 98837. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the church.
