Thank you for your support

| October 3, 2014 6:00 AM

I would like to thank the sponsors, donors, walk committee members and the over 200 walkers who participated and so generously supported the Walk to End Alzheimer's held on September 20, 2014 at Yonezawa Park. The Walk sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association was the first one to be held in Moses Lake.

Working with people with Alzheimer's enabled me to see the toll this disease takes on individuals, families and friends. It is very aptly described as "the long good-bye" because those who love and care for someone with the disease must often watch for years as their loved one changes and at some point becomes unable to do the simplest thing without assistance.

In Washington state Alzheimer's is the third leading cause of death. Over 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's and it's estimated as many as 16 million will have the disease in 2050. As the numbers increase they could include any of us, o! ur children and our grandchildren. So, I'm very grateful to the people who care and also understand that supporting the Walk will help us all. Thank you again.
