Lakeview fourth-graders pen thoughts on bullying

| October 3, 2014 6:00 AM

I am a fourth-grader at Lakeview Terrace Elementary School. I think bullying needs to stop in Moses Lake because people can get seriously hurt. So my class and I want bullying to stop in Moses Lake and in schools. We need to work together to stop bullies because being bullied is not fun at all. And some bullies think it is and funny, but it's not.

Bullying is reflective on people. If people ever see someone being bullied, stand up for them. Don't sit and watch. In my school we have something called Kelso's Wheel. There are different choices on it, like wait and cool off, tell them to stop, and etc. We also have an incident report on the back and it goes to the counselor (Mrs. Ebel). So we need to stop bullies.

Sincerely,

Emma

I am a fourth-grader at Lakeview Terrace Elementary School. I think bullies are broken down themselves and they want others to feel the same pain. I think that we should stop bullying in Washington.

What should everybody do to stop bullying? My school makes sure that there is no bullying and always stand up for yourself and others. I was bullied once at my old school. It felt like I was a slave, she took friends away, and I knew she was bullying me so I made it stop!

Sometimes people don't know that they're bullying, and sometimes people don't mean to, and we can trust them sometimes. Bullies grew up wrong and they want to spread badness to the world.

Sincerely,

Annalyse

I am a fourth-grader at Lakeview. I think bullying is bad and it's not fun being picked on. I think we should stop bullying now. We don't like being picked on, so we should stop it, so no one else can get bullied.

Our teachers help us not to bully each other at Lakeview. Our school is good, but it could be better than it is without any bullies in it, so we can have a great school. We should stand up to bullying. We have a new principal. She's nice. We sometimes help her do the Pledge of Allegiance.

We read a book called Cyber Bullying. It was about a kid who logged on to someone else's account and sent a message that was bad and the other person got detention. Then he told the teacher and then he was glad that he told on him.

Sincerely,

Ethan

I think that bullies are not a good thing because they hurt people and break people's hearts. I don't like this, it's harsh. If people see a bully, they should tell an adult immediately. Also, if you see someone getting bullied, help them get through it. People think it's cool to bully, but it's not. It's mean. I hate bullying. It's not a good thing to do. There are many types of bullying and some people are bully clones. They are the ones that see bullies and do not react.

Sincerely,

Gavin

I am a fourth-grader at Lakeview and I think you should know that bullies are mean to many people. They say things that make you feel down. Bullies get people hurt and in trouble. I think our town should do something about bullies. I don't want them and I think Moses Lake doesn't want them, so I say that we should do something about that.

So please Moses Lake, stop bullying because sometimes you want to do something and you can't do it because you're afraid to stand up to the bully. Well, don't be afraid to tell the bully to stop. Stand up for yourself. You should be able to do what you want, when you want to. Sometimes you have to stand up for what you believe in.

Sincerely,

Kathryn

I am a fourth-grader in Lakeview Terrace Elementary in Moses Lake. I think that bullying should end. Bullying is a big problem. Kids my age get bullied and so do little kids get teased, on and on. I think that people should stand up to bullying; people should ban bullying.

Our school makes bullies go to the principal. I've never been bullied, except when I was in third grade. There was a kid in second grade and when I was waiting in line, he started saying I was a baby and a little girl and I told him to stop. But he said I was a baby. I did not know him. I reported it right away. He kept on saying it, so he was put on a red dot for the rest of recess and I was never bullied again.

Sincerely,

Kylie

I am a fourth-grader at Lakeview Terrace. I think bullies have gone too far. They are hurting kids and their feelings. They are doing it because they were probably broken down too and they want other to feel the same pain. I think bullying needs to stop! Like I said, it has gone too far. Nobody has even stopped it and nobody will if we don't fix this problem. None of us want bullying in our schools, so we need to stop this. Our town should know bullying is not good. It is not right and some day it will stop. So let's all stop bullying together.

Sincerely,

Leah

I'm a fourth-grader in Moses Lake. I think bullying is a hard thing to go through in life. If people stand up against bullies, the world will be a better place. We could all get along in peace and no one will feel bad. To stand up to a bully takes a lot of courage. People might call you names, hurt you, or text something bad to you; then you're being bullied.

There's two types of bullying: hitting and calling names or texting bad things, also known as cyber bullying. There's two ways to stop bullies: standing up to the bully, or telling an adult. You can also help others with bullying by telling an adult or standing up for them. If we all stand up and work together, we can stop bullies for good. So stand up for others and we'll get along.

Sincerely,

Nathaniel

I am a fourth-grader and I live in Moses Lake. I think we have to stop bullies. We have to be willing and we have to be nice to anybody in the world.

How about I go to the media and tell them about how to stop bullying, and put it in the newspaper too?

We have to be responsible for our actions. That is the important part, our heart for our world.

But if you have bullied, you will not get a good life. So be nice, kids. I think you have to be nice to one another and you will have to make up. So that is a lesson, kids.

Can you come to our school please? Can you tell a lesson about bullying please?

Our school is called Lakeview Terrace Elementary and tell everyone in Moses Lake to stop bullying. Please tell us. Without you telling us, we will have no friends, and thank you for this talk.

Sincerely,

Nicholas L.

I am a fourth-grader in Lakeview Terrace Elementary School. I think bullies don't have hearts for others because they have been bullied by another bully. In our school, we stand up for others. I've been bullied before and I know what it feels like. I've been called a lot of names and every one that is a bully should know, we will stand up for others. I hope our town will stand up to bullies and set up signs like "Bully Free Zone" and "Bullies Aren't Allowed."

Some people are scared to tell the truth because they think the bullies will get them back or people will call others tattle-tales. In our town, no one messes with us. We have each others' backs.

Sincerely,

Shelly

I am a fourth-grader. I go to school at Lakeview Terrace Elementary. I think that we should stop bullying. Bullies are everywhere. I know three types of bullies. There is the regular bully that is usually in a group and picks on little kids. And there's the cyber bully that bullies people by texting. And there's the peanut bully, that holds up peanuts to kids that are allergic to peanuts. It could kill someone.

Bullies need to be stopped by standing up to a bully, telling on a bully, and by telling bullies to stop. If you see someone being picked on and you don't do anything, that is also being a type of bully. Instead, report it immediately.

Sincerely,

Teancum
