Bernice was born November 28, 1941 in Spokane, Washington to Fred and Grace Giffing. She grew up in Four Lakes, Washington and graduated from Cheney High School from which she received her Hair Dresser's License. Shortly after that, she met and married her first husband, Stan Arrington with whom she gave birth to her first daughter, Michelle. Bernice and Stan separated in 1976, after which she met Frank Donofrio. They were married in 1977 and her second daughter, Mary, was born soon after. Bernice and Frank resided in Gladstone, Oregon. Frank traveled a lot with his job, so Bernice was a homemaker and decided to start a child daycare center in her home.

Frank passed away in 1992 and daughter, Michelle passed away in 2007. In order to be closer to her daughter, Mary, Bernice moved to Moses Lake. She fit in well by going to the senior center to do crafts as well as volunteering at the soup kitchen at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. She was well liked and loved by many. Bernice had a heart of gold and will be missed immensely.

Bernice is survived by her daughter Mary Donofrio; daughter-in-law Amanda Cruz; brother Robert Giffing and his wife Joanne; niece Mary Bartels and her family; nephew Dean Giffing and his family; nephew Charlie Giffing; and niece Cassandra Davey and her family.
