Moses Lake rallies to remain unbeaten

MOSES LAKE - Leading by 157 pins, Moses Lake head girls bowling coach Billy Brice should've been relaxed heading into the final Baker game against Eisenhower.

But he wasn't.

Despite a huge margin of victory from the first game, the Chiefs had fallen behind 2-1 after losing the next two games.

"We could lose the match and still be like 250 pins up in total, but they'd beat us 3-1 and that was in the back of our minds when we started out slow again," Brice said.

The Chiefs would return to form in the final Baker game, outscoring Ike 172-103, and won the match on total pins 1,888-1,662.

Liz Busherd, Kim Mulder and Ashleigh Hash secured the win, combining for three strikes in a row in the second Baker game.

"It was a roller coaster win," Brice said. "Probably the best way to explain it."

Moses Lake started slow in the beginning, but still won the first game 843-648.

Hash led with a score of 212, followed by Busherd's 193 and Mulder's 161.

"I was really excited for them because this was the first time I really saw them grind it out," Brice said. "They started out pretty slow. I mean the first three or four frames it wasn't looking too promising, but then halfway through it they caught fire and closed the deal out."

The Chiefs regressed in the second game and lost 753-720.

Mulder and Coral Brownlee bowled well with scores of 163 and 158, respectively.
