Budget hearing for Royal City

ROYAL CITY - The preliminary annual budget for the City of Royal City for 2015 has been presented, and the city council has set a public hearing for Tuesday, Dec. 2.

If you want to have a say-so, be at the council chamber by 7:10 p.m. According to Finance Diretor Greg Pike, the Council plans to approve the budget after the hearing. A summary of the budget accompanies this story.

In business before the Council on Nov. 4, Grant County PUD General Manager Tony Webb gave an update on the ongoing repair to Wanapum Dam. He said the PUD has updated boat ramps while water level has been low.

Webb also discussed PUD initiatives and future projects, including turbine and generator replacement, county-wide wireless internet, and public education of fiber access.

The Council approved Ordinance 14-07 to amend Ordinance 11-05 to vacate a dedicated city street right of way between 813 NE Poarch Avenue, Lot 1 of Rock Creek Short Plat, 737 NE Poarch Avenue and 736 NE Hargraves Avenue.

The Council approved a consent agenda that includes a payroll for 10/31/14 in the amount of $35,954.58 and claims for 11/04/14 Nos. 26511-26535 in the amount of $30,066.93

City Attorney Katherine Kenison updated the Council on ongoing recreational marijuana legislation. She said the Council should look at renewing its moratorium.
