Woman falls asleep, crashes near George

GEORGE - A Spokane Valley woman fell asleep at the wheel causing an accident near George Thursday.

At 6:55 p.m., Amanda Culwell, 23, of Spokane Valley, was driving a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser west on Interstate 90, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Culwell reportedly left I-90 to the right and overcorrected, causing her vehicle to leave the road to the left. Culwell overcorrected again and left I-90 to the right, rolling and finally coming to a rest on the shoulder facing eastbound I-90.

Culwell was injured and transported by ambulance to the Quincy Valley Medical Center for treatment.

Her vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene. The official cause of the accident was Culwell falling asleep at the wheel, according to the patrol.

Culwell was cited for second-degree negligent driving.
