ROYAL CITY - Recapping a tough season, Royal High volleyball coach Paul Olsufka said his girls never lost their fighting spirit.

That was never truer than in the last match against Wahluke last week. The Knights lost in four games, but all four games were hotly contested. They lost 20-25, 25-18, 21-25, 22-25.

"Tough to lose the close matches, but the spirit never went away in the girls determination to bring about a win," Olsufka said. "You could see the disappointment on their faces at not being able to come away with a match win."

"Even though we did not win many matches, the games we did win were a glimpse of what could be," he added. "Hard work and determination can make all the difference in the future."

The Knights were led by Lindsey Small with 11-11 serving, one ace, 12 digs, three blocks and 11 kills. Ashley Valle had 22-23 serving, two aces, 15 digs and one kill

Allison Joslin went 9-11 serving with one ace and seven digs. Alyx Ziegler had 16-20 serving with one ace and 29 assists. Lizzie Miller had six kills, Kailee Harris had six kills and Taylor Freeman had seven kills.
