EPHRATA - A Moses Lake man was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for breaking into his ex-girlfriend's apartment and assaulting her and her new boyfriend.

George Lewis, 43, pled guilty to burglary, assault and malicious mischief following an October 2013 incident.

According to the initial police report, Lewis broke the front of his ex-girlfriend's apartment at about 2 a.m. and had a friend with him who was armed with weapons.

Once inside, Lewis shoved the woman out of his way and pushed the new boyfriend into a bedroom and closed the door. The woman reported hearing loud crashing, according to police.

Lewis' accomplice came inside next holding a baseball bat in one hand and a gun in the other, according to the police report and went to the bedroom and closed the door behind him.

The woman went into her child's bedroom to get a cellphone to call 9-1-1, but realized the phone was in the same bedroom as Lewis and her boyfriend.

The men came out of the bedroom about 10 minutes later, and the boyfriend was bleeding from his head, according to the police report.

Lewis told the woman that she had better not call police and said the assault was the new boyfriend's fault.
