94 participate in Spring Fest Triathlon, Duathlon

MOSES LAKE - More than 90 people took part in the Moses Lake Spring Festival's triathlon and duathlon events Monday.

Participants took off from Montlake Park.

Birkin Owart, 25; Bryan Brosious, 29; Joshua Fitchitt, 41; Brian Johnson, 42 and Kyle Hedges, 22 were the top five overall finishers in the triathlon. They finished with times of 53 minutes and 28.6 seconds, 54:07.2, 55:14, 55:52.7 and 56:53.9, respectively.

Jodi O'Shea, 42, was the first female racer to cross the finish line with a time of 1:02:22.3. The rest of the race's top five female finishers were Hayley Espelund, 38, 1:05:15.4; Sonia Tonnemaker, 53, 1:05:30; Lisa Sunderman, 42, 1:07:39.3 and Chelsey Tadema, 30, 1:10:38.

There were a total of 69 triathlon participants.

The top five finishers for the duathlon were Brian Carroll, 29, 1:11:39.6; Lee Sobchak, 65, 1:15:50.2; Allycia Green, 32, 1:21:38.2; Cora Sturzl, 51, 1:22:07.2 and Tyler Wallace, 30, 1:22:42.5.

Michael Kitson, 32, 1:23:31 and John Slater, 52, 1:24:33.3 were the third and fourth male racers to cross the finish line.

Jennifer Gahringer, 31, 1:27:28.4; Antje Russell, 39, 1:31:35.7 and Carolina Hernandez, 33, 1:38:30.9 were the other top five female finishers.

Twenty-four people participated in the duathlon.
