Freewind Martial Arts returns to competition

SPOKANE - Freewind Martial Arts students brought home several trophies from the Lilac City Karate Championships, billed as one of the largest karate tournaments in the Northwest.

Results:

Jamie Casteel - 1st place fighting Women's 35+ Division; 4th men's/women's black belt forms.

Michael Griswold - 1st place fighting; 2nd place forms in the 16-34 year old beginner division.

Travis Cassiano - 1st place fighting; 1st place forms, over 35 advanced division.

Robert Heale - 1st place forms; 3rd fighting in the 16-34 beginning division.

Esme Zambrano - 1st place, 6 year old & under forms.

Tom Shimura - 2nd place forms; 2nd fighting in the over 35 advanced division.

Kyndra Wright - 1st 16-34 beginning weapons.

Ethan Chesmore - 2nd place forms 10-12 year old forms division.

Nathan Vlk - 3rd place forms 7-9 year old beginning forms.

Nannette Geise - 2nd place over 35 beginning fighting and 2nd in forms.
