MOSES LAKE - For the first time in 15 years, Moses Lake will be playing in a state tournament game.

After defeating Wenatachee in overtime, 4-3 to capture the 4A District 6 Championship, the Chiefs received the luxury of hosting the first round of the state tournament.

Moses Lake will meet Camas out of the Greater St. Helen's league. The Papermakers (13-0-3) navigated their regular season schedule without leaving the field in defeat.

However, Camas stumbled against Skyview in the District 4 playoffs, losing 3-2 in a shootout. The Papermakers rebounded with two wins over Todd Beamer and Federal Way in the Bi-District 3/4 playoffs to advance to meet the Chiefs today.

Moses Lake and Camas both boast experienced rosters with upperclassmen playing key roles. The Chiefs will rely on the senior trio of forwards Johnny Cortez and Adrian Vasquez and midfielder Sean Cotton. Camas will counter with senior All-League defenders Sam Pizot, Calvin Goon, Austin Cassity and Matt Palodichuk. Both teams also have high-powered offenses as each squad has scored over 50 goals this season.

The match is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at Lions Field.
