SCHAWANA - Jonah Bartrand of Schawana was recently recognized as an Eagle Scout at a Court of Honor at the Ellensburg Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Scoutmaster Larry Hudson and members of Boy Scout Troop 168 of Ellensburg participated in the ceremony to award Bartrand the rank of Eagle Scout. Local geologist and Boy Scout volunteer Jack Powell gave the keynote address on the Scout Law and Bartrand's path to the Eagle rank.

Jack Powell, Larry Hudson, and David Poage of Cle Elum were honored by Jonah with mentor pins. Poage was instrumental in helping to engineer and build the new Jolly Mountain trail bridge, which was Bartrand's Eagle project.

Jonah's brother, Eagle Scout Arill Bartrand, led the Eagle Charge. His brothers, Beck and Anson, served as master of ceremony and bugler.

Jonah is the son of David and Meg Bartrand of Schawana. He is the second in the family to make Eagle. His brother Beck is expected to have a Court of Honor this year.

"Jonah is grateful to all those who encouraged and helped him attain scouting's highest rank," his mother said.
