Big Bend ends season with sweep of Blue Mountain

MOSES LAKE - Despite missing the playoffs, Big Bend (13-15, 22-17) took a step in the right direction during the 2014 campaign after finishing with a winning record.

The NWAACC East proved to be a crowed region as the playoffs nears with six teams with 20 or more wins. The other three regions in the NWAACC only totalled nine teams with 20 or more wins.

The Vikings improved by nine wins in 2014 and ended their season with a sweep of Blue Mountain.

Jon Dailey led the way for Big Bend in the opener, going 4 for 4 with two RBIs, and the Vikings won 7-11.

Entering the eighth inning, Big Bend trailed 6-5 before a Mitchell Darlington doubled sparked a six-run rally that was capped by a three-run homer by Brett Fredericksen.

Fredericksen was 1 for 2 with four RBIs.

Kaleb Price pitched a complete game shutout in the nightcap as Big Bend ended its season with a 10-0 win against the Timberwolves.

Price struck out one and allowed four hits.

Dylan Signorelli was 2 for 3 with three RBIs and a home run. Dailey matched Signorelli with three RBIs and a home run of his own.

Viking softball swept by Spokane

SPOKANE - Big Bend softball (6-28) concluded its season with a pair of losses to Spokane, 9-1 and 8-0.

Tiffany King-Phillips drove in the lone run for the Vikings in the two-game set.

Erica Chandler was 2 for 3 in the opener.
