Sheriff's Office, Autism Society to register vulnerable people, create database

| May 9, 2014 7:45 AM

EPHRATA — The Grant County Sheriff’s Office and the Autism Society of Grant County will host an event for families and people living with conditions that need extra care.

Information and resources will be provided on the topics of autism, Asperger’s, Alzheimer’s and others. Conditions in which people do not behave as expected and may need extra care when contacted by law enforcement will be included.

Vulnerable people can be registered at the event. Having information on vulnerable persons aids law enforcement and EMS personnel help those who are lost, in need of assistance or in the event of an emergency.

Spanish speaking staff will be on hand.

The event will take place 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 17 at Patrick Park in Ephrata.
