EAST WENATCHEE - Tied 1-1 in the 15th minute against Eastmont, Moses Lake boys soccer (6-3, 9-5-1) exhibited why it has the most potent offense in the Columia Basin Big Nine.

Johnny Cortez recorded a hat trick and the Chiefs were able to rout Eastmont, 7-2.

Moses Lake's win coupled with Sunnyside's loss to Davis sets up a showdown in the season finale between the two teams with an opportunity for the Chiefs to be co-league champions with a win.

After an unceremonious 3-2 overtime loss against the Grizzlies ended their perfect league record, the Chiefs have been eager for the next meeting against Sunnyside."We have some payback for the first Sunnyside game," head coach Bill Bertram said.

After starting the season 13-0, Sunnyside has dropped its last two matches by a combined margin of two goals.

Regardless of tonight's outcome, Moses Lake holds the No. 1 seed in the district tournament due to being on the right side of head-to-head and points tiebreakers against Davis and Wenatchee.

Tonight's match is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Lions Field.
