Moses Lake dominates Panthers on the road

WENATCHEE - If there was any doubt over who reigned supreme in the Columbia Basin Big Nine, Moses Lake (9-1, 11-3) extinguished it after thumping Wenatchee, 12-0, Tuesday.

The Chiefs led 8-0 after two innings and cruised to a five-inning blowout.

"We're capable of doing that against almost anybody," head coach Dave Gregory said. "Especially in our league."

The Moses Lake lineup was littered with multi-hit games. Hailee Bishop was 3 for 4 with two runs scored, three RBIs, a double and a stolen base.

The hit parade continued with Tressa Radach and Cierra Nevares, each finishing 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

Alyssa Balderas was 2 for 4 with an RBI, while Vanessa Rodriguez was 2 for 2 with two RBIs.

"It made a good statement, but I just don't want to do the same thing we did to Eastmont," Gregory said. "I've got to get the kids up."

Marnie Skinner pitched four innings, recording seven strikeouts and allowing one hit. According to Gregory, she left the game with an apparent pulled muscle in her leg.

Peyton Ries pitched one inning of relief, striking out one and allowing one hit.

The sophomore tandem has been a pleasant surprise for Gregory and his coaching staff this season.

"Our young pitchers are just really doing a good job in league," he said. "We're cutting down our walks, oh my word ... We've got a lot of strikeouts, very few walks."

Moses Lake will finish its season series with Wenatchee Friday at home. Game one is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.

Gregory opined that his team would have to win two out of three games against Wenatchee and Eisenhower to finish the season as Big Nine champions.

However, Gregory would prefer to not have any slip ups down the stretch.

"I want to sweep," he said. "I want to make a statement. I want to go out with one loss in league."

Warden locks up second place in the SCAC

Warden (8-2, 13-2) rebounded from a disappointing showing against Connell with two wins against River View Tuesday, 11-4 and 14-4.

The two wins clinched at least a second place finish in the SCAC and a home game in the first round of the district tournament.

Aaliyah Enriquez was once against sensational for the Cougars, recording 21 strikeouts throughout the doubleheader.

Enriquez helped her cause in the first game going 3 for 4 with a double from the plate.

Lexy Pruneda was a terror on the base paths in game one and finished with four stolen bases.

Pruneda continued in the nightcap with another stolen base.

Allycia Gonzales drove in a game-high four runs and homered.

Head coach Wes Richins was happy with the way his team played offensively.

Warden hosts Kittitas in a nonleague game Friday.
