Man gets 4 years for selling heroin

EPHRATA - A man was who recently jailed for drug possession, was sentenced to about four more years in prison for continuing to sell drugs while in the county jail.

Juan Quintana, 26, was recorded on the Grant County jail phone system orchestrating heroin deals last March while serving time for possession of heroin.

He was sentenced to more than 3.5 years, which was at the low end of the standard sentencing range with enhancements of more than 3.5 to seven years. Using information from a confidential informant who was arrested in 2012 for selling heroin, investigators learned Quintana was setting up associates to sell his heroin for him while serving an upcoming six-month sentence in Grant County jail.

According to court records, investigators from the Interagency Narcotic Enforcement Team recorded Quintana instructing associates on the quantity and price of heroin to sell while he was in jail. Quintana was recorded on the jail phone system telling a known drug dealer "Keep it moving, I don't want that (stuff) to stop, if it stops then I'm not making any money while I'm in here."

Police used that information to arrest at least one other drug dealer in Grant County.
