Chiefs girls golf finishes 3rd at POD #5

WENATCHEE - The Moses Lake girls golf team finished third in a six-team field recently at the POD #5 match at Three Lakes Golf Club.
The girl's team was missing three of its best scorers for various injury and school-related reasons, coach Lonny Brown said, making the finish quite impressive.
Senior Emily Dennis led the way for the Chiefs, scoring 98 on the Par 72 course.
Dennis struggled on front nine, with three double bogeys and a triple bogey, before turning it around and racking up three pars, including on the Par 3 18th.
Senior Desi Guzman was second for the Chiefs with a score of 102, including one par.
Junior McKenna Conley shot a 107, good enough for third for the Chiefs. Conley has played consistent golf all year, Brown said, and is ranked 10th in the Columbia Basin Big Nine individual rankings.
The missing starters gave freshman Charlene Sanislo the rare opportunity to start for the Chiefs and she scored 118.
The Chiefs last regular season match will be at Wenatchee Golf and Country Club Monday, May 5 with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
The top 24 ranked golfers in the CBBN will face off for the district playoffs May 12 at Yakima Country Club. The top five finishers will travel to the state tournament in Vancouver.
