Moses Lake escapes Eastmont

EAST WENATCHEE - Behind a strong offensive output from Tressa Radach, Moses Lake (7-0, 9-2) was able to pass its first test of the year against second place Eastmont, 6-3.

The Chiefs trailed 2-0 early after Marnie Skinner left a pitch over the plate that was belted for a homer in the first inning.

Moses Lake rallied to tie the game in the fourth inning before pulling ahead.

"I thought we did well," head coach Dave Gregory said. "We were popping the ball up a little bit. We had too many strikeouts, more than I want. As I look back over the stats it wasn't as bad as I thought it was."

After the early mistake, Skinner pitched a complete game and ended with eight strikeouts. Skinner and fellow sophomore Peyton Ries have been a capable duo from the mound, despite their lack of experience.

"Going into this season I thought our young pitching would be our drawback," Gregory said. "But they've been really throwing well, pitching tough."

Radach continued her dominance from the plate, going 2 for 4 with three RBIs and a home run.

"She just can't do anything wrong this year," Gregory said. "Knock on wood."

Skinner helped her own cause, finishing 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Jazmynn Jesse was also 2 for 4 with one RBI and one run scored.
