LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Microsoft is releasing a security update in response to a vulnerability in Internet Explorer that allows hackers to take complete control of a computer. The update will include Windows XP users, despite dropping support for the operating system last month, according to the Associated Press.
The update went live at 10 a.m. today.
Adrienne Hall, general manager of Microsoft Trustworthy Computing, said in a statement that the company takes the security of its products "incredibly seriously."
Microsoft reported the problem Saturday.
The company said users with automatic updates enabled don't need to take any action.
