Youth bowlers qualify for state

MOSES LAKE - Lake Bowls in Moses Lake recently hosted the Youth Pepsi Tournament for eastern Washington.

Several local bowlers were able to advance out of the five different age groups.

Billy Shestock totalled 1301 pins over six games with an average of 216, good for second place in the U20 division. Kayla Steffler took sixth with 1065 pins and an average of 177.5.

Liz Busherd and Kimberly Mulder placed 12th and 13th, respectively.

Busherd averaged 166.6 pins while Mulder averaged 162.83 pins per game.

In the U15 bracket, Austin Snegosky took third place with a six-game total of 1116 pins and an average of 186. Malakai Stewart averaged 172, good for eighth place, and Rebecca Benavidez bowled a 937 with an average 156 got a fourth place finish.

Danielle Garcia placed ninth with an average of 145.8 pins.

Mathew Barnett nabbed first place in the U8 division. Claire Stewart and Mikaylah Swanson placed third and fifth, respectively.

Over 350 bowlers descended on Lake Bowl to compete in five different age brackets. Those successful at the state competition have a chance to advance to Buffalo, N.Y. July 18-20.
