MOSES LAKE - It took the friendly confines of Big Bend's softball field for the team to snap a seven game losing streak.

The Vikings (2-8) edged Skagit Valley, 12-11, in the first of a two-game set.

It was Big Bend's first home game all season.

It appeared the streak would grow as the Vikings trailed 11-3 entering the sixth inning. However, timely hitting and a couple defensive mistakes by Skagit Valley allowed Big Bend to retake the lead after a nine-run inning.

Erica Chandler starred for the Vikings, going 2 for 4, scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 more with a grand slam.

Jalene Howell was also a force with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

Big Bend was able to retire the side in the seventh without incident to escape with the victory.

The celebration wouldn't last long as the Vikings were blitzed by Skagit Valley in the night cap and fell, 10-1, in five innings.

Big Bend was only able to muster 4 hits in game two.

The Vikings continue their length home stand Friday against Treasure Valley. Game one is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.

Treasure Valley is currently 10-4 and is in second place in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community College's (NWAACC) East region.

Big Bend will also play two-game sets against Blue Mountain on Saturday and Walla Walla on Sunday. Saturday and Sunday's games begin at noon.
